For the moment I'm having my first sewing project I'm so tempted to just throw out.
I had some material I never knew what to do with it's a bit crazy in it's pattern and there never was much of it. I don't even now where it came from proberly a bag of leftovers I was given at some time.
Any way I cut it into squares and found some very dark blue to complement it and set about making a patchwork Table Runner. Oh dear what a mistake the material not only slips it stretches and goes baggy. It's not like a proper stretch material that returns to it's normal shape.
The thought of doing the finale stop stitching is not a prospect I'm looking forward to.
I don't know if you can see in this photo but the colourful square's are all gone a bit baggie
Oooh tricky, that's why patchwork fabrics aren't stretchy. You might find it settles down once you've quilted it, especially if you do more quilting in the stretchy squares. Alternatively I think I'd have ironed the stretchy fabric onto a lightweight vilene for support. Maybe you could do that anyway, now it's all put together? Good luck though! I'm pretty determined when it comes to finishing something, even if I have to adapt it along the way. I don't think I've ever binned anything half way through. I have got rid of dresses that I've made and then they didn't fit right.
Many years ago (1978)I went to a jumble sale at the local scout hut which my OH had joined as Scout leader. I was looking for a tin with an old fashioned flower decoration. There was one and I paid 10p for it. When I got it home and opened it I found two chinese design cushion covers - already started - threads, diagram and also a tracing. The person who had started them used 6 threads. Over the years I have tried to finish them and they have been mentioned in stash reductions since at least 2010. I got so fed up last year that I binned them.
Good idea Sheila. When I first starting using cross stitch fabrics I didn't know they could fray so much, so I always use a lightweight Vilene to interface all my projects before trimming now.
I have started some HAED's in the past, but I haven't throw them - I gave them away. Even if nobody wanted to carry on the design I'm sure the fabric would have come in handy.
I have thrown a project before - I tried to do a cat for my fella's Mum, black on black - I don't do well with black at best of times as it gives me a headache, but I grinned and beared it until I made a mistake and realised I had to "reverse stitch" it. There was no way I was gonna unpick dark stitches on 18ct black aida so I just binned the entire project and she had something different that year, lol.
In fact, come to think of it I have given quite a lot of unfinished things away - mainly because I start something and realise I'm not that into it and my interest wanes.

I was going to use some iron on interfacing but I'd run out.
Still it's finished now and will be used on my own dinning room table. I'll take a photo in a bit.
Looking forward to the pic. Must be a day for runners, I've almost finished one today. I've just got to bind it, but had to stop to organise dinner!!! There'd be so much more time if we didn't have to eat! Lol!
Yep! I started stitching a stocking pattern, and it has been sitting on my WIP list for two years. I binned it about a month or so ago. It kept sitting on my wip list with no progress made on it because I was hating stitching it. This is supposed to be a hobby, not a headache, so as I wasn't very far into the piece (though far enough not to be worth unpicking to save the fabric) I binned it. Felt the most tremendous relief after I did, and I haven't regretted the decision yet.
