Stitching a Christmas stocking is something I've been wanting to do for ages, but it's been something I've always put off doing. So I'm going to do a fairly easy design so start me off this year, and see how it goes. Here's my stocking design - It's a Dimensions chart I bought off Ebay, and Dimensions threads are the exact same colour as DMC (which is another reason I love Dimensions!) so I'll have no problem in trying to colour match. I think it'll look nice on Iridescent Aida, perhaps Delft Blue which I think I might have in my stash already. What design will you be stitching?

you've seen mine kelly -its my early xmas present i posted on here . do you have a start date or will it be like our show n tells we've done . I think because it's a yearly SAL you can work on it as and when you like - the goal being that we get them done before Xmas 2016 - you can start whenever you like really. If you'd like to get cracking on with it now, then post a weekly update - or if you'd like to stretch it out throughout the year then post your progress each month maybe - or whatever works best for you. I hope you manage to get the chart for the first one hun - I can see from your link that it's discontinued so I just hope they have a replacement to send you. I do like your second choice though.

I emailed the company that produces them the same day I posted about it here - so Dec. 31st. So far, they haven't even responded to my email in any way.

Well my design for the SAL has changed. The one I was going to do, hubby says is too baby-ish. I thought it was a good "practice" piece as I haven't constructed a stocking using a cross stitched piece before, but he says I should have a more "grown-up" design to give to the kids - albeit I'll have to make two - so looks like another Christmas SAL will have to take place for next year too, lol! Anyway the new design is very similar to Julie's - I think Julie's will be my second choice for the next one as I do love that design, but my first one will be this one. It's in the post as a gift from hubby, so I'll make a start on it as soon as it arrives. My first choice was a chart I bought off Ebay, so you miss out on the contents the kit would have included, so it will be nice to have all the materials needed, and I do love cracking open a new kit! LOL! So that's my first stash increase for this year - EEeekk, sorry LadyA!

This is the stocking I am going to stitch: I have to confess to this being my first stash increase of the year too but thought this was the best choice for my little boy and should last him for a quite a few years to come (hopefully!)

This is a lovely design hun - and like you said, it'll last a few years - not something he'll grow out of quickly. And you've just eased my guilt when it some to increasing stash! Makes me feel better I'm not the only one, ha!

No. could you try contacted joan elliot as she's the designer so she might have ?? That's a good idea - as Design Works is her main publisher - it might be worth explaining to her and with it being discontinued she might be able to send you a PDF version of the chart. I once contacted Susan Bates over a design that was published in the Kanavice magazine (Turkish mag)and she was kind enough to send me the two magazines I wanted and additional PDF's of the charts too. It would have cost me a fortune just for postage directly from Kanavice but Susan only charged me £3.20 for postage! I know it's not the same thing, but it's worth asking. You might be able to contact Joan through her website HERE

I may try contacting designworks again first. It isn't discontinued here, as the shop I buy from all the time has it in stock. Worst case scenario I suppose I could buy the whole kit again if I had to.
