I've been doing it over the years mostly bought in charity shops for my table but over time some bits now are too shoddy ie holes and stains.
I've a Chest draws full and now I'm thinking of cutting out the good parts and reusing them in all sorts of lovely new projects, just like the Victorians did with their embroidered linens and cotton crochet dollies.
I'd hate to see them go to landfill when they are still so beautiful. I'm even bidding on more of them on ebay.
Anyone else trying to work out what to do with linens and dollies handed down from relatives that maybe arn't as great as they once where?
I have saved some of the larger pieces to make half blinds/curtains for my conservatory. I've decided that only the white one's with white embroidery and white crochet will be used for this project. I decided not to use the colour embroidery ones in this project as the Sun's Ultra Violet light will fade them.
Once DH has completed my conservatory window seat I will use some for he embroidery bits with the vintage blue and white materials I've been collecting and saving to make the cushions and dinning table chair cushions.
I'm planing on making patchwork blue and white table linens and I'll either add some the the embroidery linens or crochet dollies to the napkins, placemats, coasters and table runners.
