I'm collecting that "Art of Quilting" that comes out each week and I've finally plucked up the courage to give one a go! A failed attempt, as I have the small squares the wrong way round - it should be pink then pictured if going by the instructions in the mag, lol. Also, I've unpicked this three times and resewn the larger blue spotty fabric to the smaller squares as I just couldn't get it properly centred, but after spending most of my afternoon on it, I decided that this is my final attempt! I guess it's not that bad for my first - and I did enjoy making it - I really think I should have practised on some scrap pieces of fabby first though! Live and learn, lol. Constructive criticism is welcomed - thanks for looking!

Looks good to me as well Kelly - don't be too hard on yourself as we all learn by experience.

Looks great, it takes a lot of practise to get those corners perfect, my Mum's a quilter and I've been to quilt shows that her group, put on, some of the quilts that are made by people who have been quilting for years don't have nice sharp, lined up points like yours!!

Oh my it' almost perfectly matched. Well done. but that's the thing about patchwork tiny off lines don't get noticed once it's all finished and in fact can be part of the pattern. I think it's always harder to get them to match up perfectly done the USA way. It's much easier with the Traditional English paper piercing method but that takes a lot longer and is done by hand you can't do it by machine.

Just finished this one, still on my ironing mat, lol. Only had to unpick once as I got them the wrong way round, ha! This isn't one from the Art of Quilting - as wanted to practice first, so I made this out of scrap pieces of fabby from my stash. My first time putting together a selection of fabrics I've chosen myself too. This was a fun design to put together - trying a sail boat one tomorrow.

My latest square - just finished this "sailboat" as part of the Art of Quilting set. It's took my the biggest part of the afternoon but I think all the careful cutting and sewing as really paid off on this one. I'm really pleased with myself, if a little slow, lol.

I'm sure it is like any skill Kelly - the more you do it, the faster you get, and everyone is slow when they first start out.
