I've always keep a gardening journal but it's always in an old rather nice A4 size notebook with a padded cover that's all flowers.
But I've made handmade journals and notebooks for friends/family and for sale.
I decided to make one for myself and I'm using it for artwork, thoughts, things I like so it's a mixed journal not a single subject journal. I've also started a much smaller cooking journal but that's in a book I received as an exchange with a cross stitch cover.
My mixed journal is also referred to as a Junk/or scrap journal, in that it's made from junk all sorts of leftover scraps and junk mail that came through the post.
The cover is made from pasting four sheets of glossy junk mag together then a layer of paper mache and acrylic paint. I've added a little bit of decoration. Due to the layers and the pva glue the cover is now a hardback cover.
Inside the signuture's are created from whatever I had in my scrap box including more junk mail, ulitily bill envolopes and a few bits of leftover pieces of paper and a few I've received from exchanges.
I've made pockets into it that are holding extra spare bits of paper, card and tags. Some of the glossary junk mail pages have now been painted or had things stuck to them. There are plenty of places to draw, write, and attach keep sakes. I'm so pleased how well it's turned out that I've made another one to use when this one is full.
There are lots of youtube video's on making junk journals which I've been watching for the past week which my friend told me about. As I thought this was my own original idea as I've made small notesbooks this way for myself since I was a child, but never large journals is this way before.
Does anyone else make and keep any type of journal and does anyone make junk journals?
I promise to post photo's once I've taken some
