I'm planning to do some crochet bells this year for Xmas but I'm wondering how best to block them, bearing in mind they are obviously not going to be flat items such as I have done in the past. What have other crocheters used to form the shape?
With bells are you planning on having them as open bells ie not stuffed bell shapes?
If they are to be open bells then you'll have to crochet them very tightly ie small crochet hook and single crochets. Then I would spray them with starch if they are still not as stiff as you would like.
You'll also have to crochet them in the round like tiny hats.
I've found the top of glass bottles for things like spring water, wine etc. work well for putting them on while spraying with starch & leaving to dry. Plastic soda bottles sometimes work too.
