A friend of mine on social media has got me interested in 5d diamond painting (best way to describe it is that it's similar to painting by numbers but with beads, not paint), am just awaiting my 1st project to come through from China. It's a 30cm by 30cm picture which I think is a 12x12.
Now I've seen frames on eBay that have the thing that would go between the glass and picture itself, I'm guessing that the frame would need to be a bit bigger to compensate?

I tried this Sam, but couldn't' get into it. I ordered a tiger design from China too and about the same size as your project.
I would just buy a frame and remove the glass as you won't really need it and the "beads" can be dusted down once they are stuck on anyway, so you don't have to worry about them getting dirty. Alternatively, buy a few meters of beading from your local DIY shop, stain it or paint it and just cut right angles at the corners and stick the whole lot down with strong wood glue. You can always go round the sides of the beading with a thin strip of sealant. I've done this with a few jigsaws I've completed in the past.
I hope you enjoy it, it's just not for me.
