I have been wondering about our knitting and crochet habits
I tend to do about the same amount of crochet to knitting and love both.
Do people knit more or crochet more or is it about the same?
I will make the same item both in crochet and knitting although I prefer to crochet larger items such as blankets as they grow quicker.
Do you have certain items you prefer to either knit or crochet and if so what are they?
When crocheting I prefer to use my plain metal crochet hooks
What type of crochet hook do you tend to use?
When knitting I am happy to knit on straight knitting needles or knit in the round. I use metal knitting needles for normal knitting and for knitting in the round I use my bamboo ends on a long nylon cord although I do have a set of metal ends with metal cable just not used them yet. I do have sets of metal double ended knitting needles for knitting in the round but I don't tend to use them as with all those points I end up either sticking them into myself or catching them on the arms of my chair.
What do you like to knit straight or in the round or both?
What type of knitting needles do you prefer?
When crocheting and knitting I like to mark off rows or rounds on a piece of paper as well as putting a clip type stitch marker every 5th row/round. This does help me to line up things for sewing up if I'm not doing it in the round. When knitting in the round I tend to use those little circle stitch markers that slip onto the knitting needles. I just have to remember to slip it across before I start knitting the next round. I've been know to use a piece of embroidery thread tied in a loop as a stitch marker as well for both knitting in the round and for marking off rows or rounds in crochet as at the end I can simply untied them.
Do you use stitch markers and what type do you prefer?
When crocheting I use both crocheting in the round so I have no seams and crocheting normally
Do you prefer either or happy to do either?
