I think my worst present was in a secret Santa at work. We were supposed to do secret Santa at our Christmas lunch in the pub. The person who was supposed to buy mine had the day off and didn't bring it with her. So it was delayed to the following day. My present was a child's game for a 5 year old. My children were grown up at this time. I think she had not bothered to buy anything and just used one of the presents she had bought for her children. She said that she thought we were buying silly presents but I didn't believe her. Anyway my face would have told her how I felt about the present when I unwrapped it. I gave the game to one of my other colleagues who had young children. I never did like that woman so perhaps the feeling was mutual.
The best present was a book my OH had made about our trip to America in the 1980s, using the photos and the diary I had kept.

My best was a watch I really wanted and got as a ten year old! I was so happy!!!!! (Kids nowadays don't even bother with watches!!!)
The worst was a gift exchange where the person making mine had not finished it and promised it later....I have never received it and as ten plus years have passed I am sure it is long forgotten!!!!! So I suppose it was a "non-gift"!
So the worst gift I ever actually received was from my stepmother and was an old tablecloth that was terribly stained with grease!!!! I have laughed and laughed over that one!!! (It was a typical gift from her!!!)
I think the worst present I ever received was a partially-used bottle of very horrible-smelling perfume. Am not really sure how that perfume was even on the market, as it was quite awful! It wasn't just a personal taste thing either, as I showed it to friends who all had a sniff and all declared it terrible.
I think I have had too many "best" presents to even pick just one. I remember as quite a young child (perhaps 5 or 6) receiving the game Perfection, which I LOVED! As a teenager one year I remember my parents ordering me a "grab bag" assortment of 100 books from Scholastic, which was wonderful to obsessive reader me. Another year as a teenager I received my fist "discman" (walkman for CDs) and a set of 4 cds for it, and I remember just laying on the floor for ages just listening to music. (Still have that set of cds too, although the discman is long dead.)
